Although InterRegional Surveys Ltd. (formerly Royal Surveys Ltd.) commenced operations in March 2010,
we have been in the survey business since 1994. The company is the culmination of all the years of
experience in the industry, by its Principal, John G. Cenac.
As a newly appointed Licensed Land Surveyor, John G. Cenac commenced his survey practice in
January 1994, in the southern town of Vieux-Fort. At that time, he was the only Licensed Land
Surveyor with an office in that town, so his practice grew steadily, undertaking Boundary Surveys,
Subdivisions, Topographical Surveys, Setting Out and Family Partitions. In 1998, he formed Cenac &
Associates, a trading name for the operation of the survey practice.
In late 2001, some major contracts were lost to outside companies, which affected the steady
growth that Cenac & Associates was making. John G. Cenac decided that if he had to be able to
compete with other contractors, whether local or regional, he had to be as qualified or more qualified than them, and he had to
get more experience.
To achieve these goals, he decided to close Cenac & Associates, and pursue a Land Surveying course in the UK. While there he
would also try to get employment with a Land Surveying Company, so as to give him some more experience. He left for the UK in
2002, to pursue an Honours Degree in Surveying and Mapping Sciences, at the University of East London (UEL).
While studying, he was able to get part time work as a Land Surveyor, working on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link from Stratford
Station to Kings Cross Station in London. There, he was exposed to Tunnel Surveying, which included Wriggle Surveys, 3-D
Monitoring and Precise Leveling. Then he moved to a Company working on the UK Airports, where, as a Land Surveyor, he
executed Topographical Surveys, Precise Leveling, 3-D Monitoring, 3-D Control Networks, GPS Control, Building Elevations,
Underground Service Tracing, Topographical Surveys and Setting Out. He was primarily based at Heathrow Airport, but he also
frequently worked at Stansted Airport, Gatwick Airport and Southampton Airport.
After graduating from UEL in 2004, he stayed on working on the Airports, and then became a Senior Surveyor, which had the
added responsibilities of supervising teams of surveyors, and training junior surveyors and survey assistants.
In late 2006, John G. Cenac left Airport work to get some experience in boundary surveys in the UK. He worked in London and
Southwest England, as a Land and Measured Building Surveyor, conducting Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Building
Elevations, Underground Service Tracing and Measured Building Surveys.
In 2009, John G Cenac returned to St. Lucia, and started preparations to reopen his survey practice. Only this time, he setup
Royal Surveys Ltd., now known as InterRegional Surveys Ltd.
